What is Matariki?
Matariki is Te Mātahi o te Tau, otherwise known as Māori New Year.
Our Kaupapa
Our intention is to celebrate Matariki in community-focused festivities alongside all those living in Aoetearoa, to join in and be part of Matariki. We want this Māori cultural celebration to be inclusive and welcoming for all, with a focus on prioritizing Māori and Pasifika creators.
Is there a cost to join the Markets?
Celestial Corner's usual market fee has been discounted to $35 for this special event. As always we provide your table and chairs - so all you need to do is bring along your taonga (crafts). We welcome kai (food) vendors, makers and 2nd hand or re-sellers.
What is the Māori Makers Pop-up Shop?
Celestial Corner will be sharing a space with a Repairing Angels World x Vandal and Hound exhibition. For our offering, we'd like to curate a selection of taonga by Māori Makers. If you identify as Māori and have wearable craft e.g accessories, or decor and would like to hear more about this consignment opportunity please indicate on the form below.
What's next?
Space is limited and by application only, applications close June 19th (unless spaces are filled prior - so be quick!).
If you would like to participate in any of these special events, please fill in the form below and include your Instagram, Facebook, or Website if you have one, and a little about the crafts you make. Please also be sure to indicate if you are Māori or Pasifika as we intend to prioritize tangata whenua. Come as you are, we are simply looking for alignment (not appropriation).
Your application will be reviewed and successful applicants will be notified by email by June 19th at the latest.
Applications close June 19th 2024.
